The Davies King #detective series

~

Thank you for visiting my website. There's a link to my book shop to the right of the screen - where you can read reviews and much more - But this page features only the books relative to the character Davies King - Davies is a chess playing detective stationed on England's south coast just over an hours drive from London.
He's a rather old fashioned detective in some ways as he employs a huge stable of criminal informants and social contacts to fight crime in his area - usually from the local pub down by the harbour - But he's also at the forefront of technology in other ways and counts, amongst his closest friends, the Chief Constable, the Head of the London's Flying Squad, a bomb disposal officer, and the Head of MI6 (The Secret Intelligence Service).
The former middleweight boxer finds trouble on every street corner and doesn't mind too much how he tackles it. Trouble is his middle name. Davies makes the rules and then breaks them and is famous for 'flying by the seat of his pants' and taking everyone along with him.
His problem is he keeps falling down and needs Barney, Annie and his personal secretary, Claudia, to keep him on the straight and narrow. But life for Davies is a chess board and everyone is a piece to be moved in  the game that he plays...
There is no straight and narrow for Davies. Win, lose, stalemate---- Davies knows the game inside out, forwards and backwards, but then so do his enemies....
Four books, four synopsis, just for you on this special page....

Genre: Fiction / Thriller / Espionage / Murder /Mystery / Tension  / Suspense

Synopsis:
~
It’s 1938. The Spanish Civil War is in its final throes. Franco, Mussolini, Hitler, Chamberlain, Lebrun and Stalin, dominate European politics.
A ship leaves Canada bound for France but there’s a storm at sea and the vessel is wrecked in the English Channel. Seventy five years later the chess playing detective, Davies King, investigates the connection between the escape of a handful of petty criminals from a prison van; a vicious murder, a sunken ship in the English Channel, a corrupt American politician, and ‘organised crime’.
Will Britain’s most annoying petty criminals outwit the stressed-out detective? Faced with overwhelming odds, the exhausted Davies King must come to terms with failure and re-ignite ‘loyalty’. On the doorstep of bribery, corruption and kidnap, the detective recognises an emerging catastrophe which is likely to destroy the foundations of an Anglo-American agreement and destroy that special relationship.
But loyalty is the last stand and it’s beyond his control.

Review:
Another epic page turner from the pen of Paul Anthony. He grabs you on page one and won't let you go until the end. A great plot from a formidable crime writer.....

THIS BOOK IS #3 IN THE DAVIES KING 'stand alone' series, where each book has a separate stand alone tale involving the detective, KING, his detectives, and British Intelligence.

Genre: Fiction / Thriller / Espionage / Murder /Mystery / Tension  / Suspense
Synopsis:
Compromising photographs discovered in a vacant office in central London are not immediately connected to a ferocious attack on Davies King. But when the campaign against the chief of detectives and his closest friends turns to blackmail, it becomes personal.
A series of horrendous bomb attacks and brutal shootings convince Davies to discharge himself from hospital and confront the two ‘most wanted’ criminals in the United Kingdom. Disillusioned with a temporary chief constable, and anxious to relieve a stressed out bomb disposal officer, the chess playing detective joins forces with British Intelligence to challenge the megalomaniacs who are holding the nation to ransom.
Her Majesty’s Government announce a Tier One threat level as the lights across the south of England are extinguished and parts of Europe and North America face the reality of the first stages of society’s breakdown - Dystopia.
It’s a simple question for the obstinate detective to answer. Does the country pay the ransom or do the lights go out?
It’s not rocket science, but who makes the decision, and why?
